Maturity
Your parents spoiled you a lot and you spent your life depending on your parents. They take care of everything for you and you even need not do any chores around the house. As long as you realize it, your should appreciate what your parents do for you, and make it up for them by taking good care of yourself, making something out of yourself, having a good career, making some money and then spending time with your parents, showing them your gratitude and appreciation by taking them out on a vacation.
When you start maturing, life will be totally different. It is always greener on the other side of the grass. You will miss the time when you do not have to be mature and think growing up too fast is not always good. Some great artists who started learning music at the age of 10 mentioned how they regret having to grow up so soon and missing the fun time other kids have.
Now you are a university student, you know it is time for you to be an adult and be independent. Moving out is usually a big step to "entering" the adult world. You will need to think about different things and so on. Even though your parents are not feeding you from spoon to mouth, they are still there to guide you. It is very important that you know how to stand on your own feet, because later on you will hopefully take care of your parents, and that is when you will be the one taking care of things and letting your parents watch their favorite TV shows. You will realize that all of the things they tried teaching you in those many years will make some sense. College is really nothing more than a sense of independence from your parents, but at the same time, knowing that you still have someone to help you and support you when you are screwing up.
You may feel immature and wonder how to be mature. Do not blame your parents. They just love you so much and would protect you as much as they can. However, as long as you realize that you were spoiled or pampered, you become more mature. You will change your whole mentality towards life and the relationships with your parents. You know your parents work extremely hard for you and you will have a new appreciation for them.
I do not think maturity can be directly associated with age. Being mature involves a lot of things, mainly responsibility, consideration, and experience. There are a lot of people I know in their mid-twenties are still acting foolishly. Everyone has an immature side of things and it does not matter if you are 90 years old. From the new generation, I reckon people will take even longer to mature now, a lot more people are dropping out of high schools and colleges.
What you are probably lacking is self-confidence. You should pick up confidence by learning more. You need to go out, experience and find out more about yourself and about the world around you. Go find out what you like to do and what you are good at.
Think about what you are doing in university - what subject interests you most, what course will lead to a good career, and what you are most likely to pass in. You should explore your options - go online and try to find different careers you might have an interest in pursuing. Find a motivation in you and find out what you like to do in life. There may be several things, narrow it down and pursue it. Stop being so indecisive. It is time to step up to the plate and be a man. If you keep waiting for the right time, it will never come.
You should get a part-time job so that you will meet new people, face new challenge, and gain new skills and real life experience. That will be your first step to contact the real world and you will see if you can smoothly adapt to the change. You would have to grow up pretty fast if you want to survive on your own. Do not be afraid to fail, instead, you should be excited and happy to know that for each new thing you try and experience you are maturing without you realizing because you are learning from your mistake subconsciously. You will soon understand more about what you want in life, and having a goal will give you a direction in life. The true way of maturing is experiencing new things. With enough life experience, things will come into place by itself.
You will probably find out how much you hate working so hard for so little money. In turn you will study like being crazy so as to get a better job and never be stuck in that situation for the rest of your life.
Do not be too hard on yourself. There are many ways to go, as long as you are not throwing your life away into something stupid (drugs, gambling, etc). The best way to be more mature is that you should always think of others but not think of yourself all the time and if you really can do that you have grown up!
